And\u00a0<strong>more than 66% of customers are willing to pay more for eco-friendly products.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>These statistics tell us that\u00a0<strong>researching sustainable solutions<\/strong>\u00a0has become an\u00a0<strong>important issue<\/strong>. And meeting the continuously evolving demands of current and potential clients even applies in the beverage market.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Packaging trends: innovative materials and sustainable production processes<\/h3>\r\n<p>Until a while ago, packaging consisted of a collection of barely sustainable items. But more recently, the\u00a0<strong>3Rs of sustainability<\/strong>\u00a0model has been under way \u2013 a green-thinking concept based on three key words, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The aim of this philosophy is to\u00a0<strong>raise awareness, prevent waste<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>conserve natural resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p>In the last few years, at Tap\u00ec, we have adopted this philosophy to bring improvements to our production processes and to design new sustainable closures to enable the brands that use them to relate their own values.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Reduce<\/h4>\r\n<p>The concept that the first R, Reduce, is founded on is to\u00a0<strong>reduce the amount we produce and consume<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>If there\u2019s less wastage, then there\u2019s less to recycle or re-use.<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>And at Tap\u00ec we are working on the basis of this principle. Through even greater commitment to\u00a0<strong>innovative solution research,<\/strong>\u00a0we are reducing and completely eliminating waste, by using fewer materials that have a\u00a0<strong>negative impact<\/strong>\u00a0on the surrounding environment.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Reuse<\/h4>\r\n<p>The second R, Reuse, is based on the\u00a0<strong>reuse of components<\/strong>\u00a0and on giving them new life, or even using them in a different way to the one they were designed for.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>We should be trying to create today\u2019s packaging using components and materials which can be re-used over and over again<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Recycle<\/h4>\r\n<p>The third R is for Recycling. This is about the\u00a0<strong>genuine transformation<\/strong>\u00a0of an asset into a\u00a0<strong>new raw material,<\/strong>\u00a0that can be shaped into new objects. There really are very few materials that cannot be recycled.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>We need to learn which products can be recycled and which ones can\u2019t. Making sure to choose raw materials which can be recycled can be a giant step towards efficient recycling<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Tap\u00ec case studies<\/h3>\r\n<p>On this basis, at Tap\u00ec, we are launching the\u00a0<strong>Rethink<\/strong>\u00a0process with the gradual alteration of the company\u2019s vision and by\u00a0<strong>offering innovative, sustainable solutions in packaging design<\/strong>. As a result, our R&amp;D team has developed new products such as\u00a0<strong>Abor and Devin<\/strong>, both based on the Reuse and Reduce concepts.
